A few weeks ago, my local media producer emailed me asking if I would record a segment sharing “a few quick and easy tips to help women reduce stress during the holiday season”. 

After rolling my eyes so hard they nearly got stuck in the back of my skull, I said yes and booked my interview. 

As a therapist, it can be hard to contribute meaningful advice to media outlets. 

They want us to distill multifaceted challenges into “quick fix” solutions. They want soundbites over systemic change! And UGH does that feel icky when we dedicate our lives to unraveling the complexity of the human condition. 

But alas! This is the world in which we live. 

If you want to become a subject matter expert in your field (and I highly recommend you do—the world needs your voice!), you must develop a system for delivering advice that attracts media attention without sacrificing your core values. 

That’s exactly what I did during my latest segment, “3 Tips to Reduce Holiday Stress”.

It’s a great reminder that you can repurpose information through lots of different angles, which makes creating content as easy as buying your holiday pie from Whole Foods instead of baking it yourself!
