Subject: ☀️ IMPORTANT REMINDER☀️
Hey there!
By the time this message lands in your inbox, my red-eye flight from Portland will be landing in Jolly Old England for a trip to London with my Biz Besties (dumb phrase, lovely sentiment).
For the next week, I’ll be frolicking through the city, eating tiny sandwiches, and drinking my body weight in tea.
The trip will be interspersed with spontaneous conversations about business—you can’t hang out with Tiffany McLain and Linzy Bonham without discussing money and grand plans for changing the world.
It’ll be the perfect blend of business and pleasure!
Unfortunately, I’ve spent so much time preparing for this trip I almost forgot that summer is right around the corner.
While reviewing our itinerary for the week, I realized…
I haven’t blocked any time in my schedule for summer fun!
For someone who spends most of her time talking about deep rest, I’m terrible at proactively taking time off when it doesn’t involve booking a flight or making an Airbnb reservation.
If I don’t block off time to enjoy fun in the sun, the whole season will pass by in a blur, leaving me frighteningly pale and sad to have missed out on another year of summer adventures.
You can’t be deeply rested if you don’t proactively plan for rest.
Ugh. I know. That doesn’t sound fun. Rest should be natural and spontaneous! She should reveal herself seductively by pulling back the curtain to a mysterious room, luring us in with sensual music and a mischievous grin.
Buuut the reality of rest is decidedly un-sexy.
Rest requires planning, commitment, and persistence. You can make it sexy once you arrive, but getting there will take some effort.
Can you take a few minutes today to proactively schedule time off for summer vacation? 🗓️😎✅
If you don’t do it now, your schedule will fill up, and you’ll spend the next four months swimming in envy as you scroll through Instagram pictures of your friends swimming in rivers and lakes.
I don’t want you to arrive at the end of summer feeling burned to a crisp without ever having basked in the sunshine.
Look at your schedule and block off a few days to create long weekends in June, July, August, and September.
Maybe block off a whole week, even if you don’t have plans. You can always change the dates later. This is about proving to yourself that you will prioritize your happiness over taking care of others.
For accountability → I paused writing this email to schedule my summer time off. It feels like a weight has been lifted already!
You started your business to have more freedom in your life, right?
Now is your chance to make it count.
If you want supportive accountability, hit “reply” and let me know when you’re taking time off this summer. I’ll respond when I’m back from London. 🏴
Cheerio!
