Subject: …but WHY???
I have a question for you.
But first, some context…
I just wrapped up the kick-off call for our new Next-Level Therapist clients.
During the getting-to-know-you portion of the call, I asked one of my favorite questions: What do you want to be different in your life 6 months from today?
Most people shared some variation of, “I want to be working less and earning more money.”
Not surprising, right? This is a powerful lure. We’re all craving more time, less responsibility, more financial abundance. We want to crack this code, and we’re willing to pay a premium for someone to teach us how to do it.
But… why? Why do we want this?
If you’re the kind of person who reads my emails (hello! glad you’re here!), “I want to work less and earn more” is a given.
Instead of ending the sentence with a full stop, approach the statement as an invitation to a deeper conversation. Think of it as the tip of the iceberg—the beginning of an exploration into your values, desires, and vision for your future.
To take it deeper, let’s articulate WHY we want to work less and earn more.
The WHY is more important than the WHAT, in my humble opinion.
What do you want to do? Work less and earn more.
Okay, cool, but why do you want to do it? *blank stare*
No more blank stares!
I want you to dip into your soul and articulate your answer to this crucial question.
Ready?
Here are 2 sentence stems you can use as inspiration:
- I want to work less and earn more so that I can ________________.
- I want to work less and earn more in service of ________________.
These prompts lead to some truly inspiring conversations on our call this morning. I want to share some examples with you but I don’t want to influence your answers!
Instead of waiting for an inspiration bank, see what answers you find within yourself. I have no doubt that the deepest parts of you know the answer to this question.
The only thing you have to do is be quiet and listen.
… and then hit reply and email me your answer!
(Seriously, it’d make my day if you shared this with me. It can get lonely on this side of the inbox, and I want to know what you’re thinking!)
Hope you’re having a delightful and easy Friday ❤️
Talk soon,
Maegan
